The LEGO Group Announces New Collaboration with Pharrell Williams, Embarking on a Shared Mission to Inspire Everyone to Unleash Their Limitless Potential!

Billund, Denmark – 4th September 2024 – The LEGO Group has today announced a new collaboration with visionary artist and designer Pharrell Williams, inspiring everyone to unlock their creativity and unleash their limitless potential through LEGO Play.

Today’s announcement also sees the release of a new LEGO set designed in collaboration with Pharell. Over the Moon is a space shuttle with a golden canopy and a vibrant jet stream of colors. For Pharrell, the infinity of space was the first catalyst for his imagination, showing him that there are no limits to what we can explore.

Pharrell believes that curiosity and creativity are essential life forces in all of us and credits them as the building blocks of his success. The LEGO Group is proud to partner with Pharrell to encourage people of all ages to use play and building to share their stories.

“Growing up, I was obsessed with space and the infinite possibilities it represents,” said Pharrell. “This partnership aims to inspire creativity and inclusivity. With my LEGO Over the Moon set I want everyone to feel seen and empowered to imagine their own stories. The spaceship is blasting off, and you’re in the pilot seat.”

Over the Moon is made up of three parts, with each holding a special meaning for Pharrell. The black-and-gold shuttle symbolizes limitless potential, taking off and transporting you anywhere you can imagine. The bright and vibrant colours of the jet stream symbolize the imagination, creativity, and power of play to fuel your way. And finally, befitting Pharrell’s relentless pursuit to push boundaries and ensure that everyone can feel represented and seen, the LEGO Over the Moon set features the widest range of minifigure skin tones included in a LEGO product, with seven in total. 51 different minifigure heads are included, over 30 of which have been designed specifically for this set.

The new set also includes several brand-new color-piece combos, created specifically for this project, such as the custom-made windscreen canopy made in drum-lacquered gold color for the first time ever.

“Our values for over 90 years have been rooted in creativity, curiosity and imagination. Pharrell is unique in his ability to draw on those qualities to influence his art. A true icon of our time, he never fails to innovate and inspire his audience, through any of his many endeavours” said Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing and Product Officer from the LEGO Group. “Through our partnership, we want to inspire people of all ages to unlock their own limitless potential through LEGO® Play. This is a shared mission, and we’re excited to take off today.”

Pharrell’s collaboration with the LEGO Group will extend to his non-profit foundation, YELLOW, which works to even the odds for children through education. This collaboration will see the launch of a new LEGO Build the Change global challenge, bringing more creative play to kids worldwide.

The launch of Over the Moon comes ahead of the release of Focus Features’ PIECE BY PIECE, which will debut in US theatres on 11 October, and internationally beginning 6 November. Directed by Academy Award® winning filmmaker Morgan Neville and featuring new original music from Pharrell, PIECE BY PIECE is a unique cinematic experience that invites audiences on a vibrant journey through the life of cultural icon Pharrell Williams. Developed from Pharrell’s singular vision, PIECE BY PIECE defies genres and expectations to transport audiences into a LEGO® world where anything is possible.
