LEGO Blooms and Beyond at the Macy’s Flower Show!

In early May 2025, BrickJournal was invited to a special event showcasing LEGO Botanicals in New York City. BrickJournal correspondent Jon Lazar and his wife Caroline attended the event and wrote up a report:

Each Spring for the past 80 years, the Macy’s Flower Show transforms its flagship store in New York City into a wonderland of color, a variety of pastels and ornamentation creating a spectacle of hues that bring crowds into the store to experience the chromatic cornucopia in bloom. This year the store had something special in addition to the usual flowers, a showcase of LEGO’s Botanical collection.

Overlooking the store from the second floor is the LEGO Blooms and Beyond display. The presentation was flanked by large flower arrangements in concrete bowls that would have been mistaken for real flowers from afar, showing how realistic the LEGO botanicals can be. As inspiring as the oversized bouquets are, entering the display room was even more so, elevating LEGO from just building to being art. Botanicals in vases and in wall art showed how the LEGO Botanicals could be used to be elevated to being decor.

The room was a sight to behold. The Macy’s style was evident in the room as the wood shelves and cabinets featured artistic displays that made the LEGO feel elegant as the lines between art and toy blurred. Whether mounted on a wall or arranged on a shelf, these models demonstrated that LEGO can be the perfect accent in the home and can be displayed in more than just in a toy room or among a collection.

It would not be a true LEGO experience if there was not building involved, and attendees are not just limited to admiring the flowers from afar. Two long tables were set up in the middle of the room with seats in front of building stations. Each person entering the room had the chance to assemble the boat orchids from the LEGO Flower Bouquet set. Reservations were available online to get the coveted building opportunities, but we were told that all 832 reservations went very quickly.

The Macy’s Flower Show is a reminder to AFOLs that LEGO can be used in unique ways to decorate, and it shows those who are not LEGO aficionados ways that they could bring LEGO into their home. The creative potential of LEGO is limitless, not just for building however you want but for decorating however you want as well.
